School Day
I see these school kids quite often, as I turn into the lane for my blip safari. Every time they squeal with delight (I think) and then wave like mad, and squeal some more when I wave back.
I had just prepared my camera for the safari when I saw them coming down the hill. Mom was on her motorbike at the bottom of the hill next to me and gave me the nod. I quickly flipped the range and the autofocus switches on the lens and fired away.
Mom was smiling too and seemed proud that I would want to blip her little darlings. Indonesia does not have the hang-ups surrounding children that the UK has. Maybe they should, as the same problems that plague the western countries also plague Indonesia.
I have first hand accounts from many women that I have met here, including one who had her first child when she was eleven! I guess it is still one of those difficult subjects that gets swept under the carpet, a nation still in denial as the western world was until recent years.
If protecting the kids means going over the top and over reacting, then so be it, let it be so, JMHO.
