Today's big task was to get our medicals done. It is the first step towards renewing our residence visas. They expired in May but during the lockdown, the government said that all visas were automatically renewed until the end of the year. I am so regretting not doing this before June when medicals were suspended. I would have saved near $200. They were reintroduced with two days notice (over a weekend) and then we were told we had three months to get our visas and ID cards in order.
The morning was spent getting the documents together and sussing out the best place to get them done. In the end, we chose a place new to us based on the recommendation of two friends we had dinner with last Thursday.
It all went well once we found the place, as in, the actual clinic in the mall. (They like putting essential services in Malls here.) We called in at the new section of Dubai Mall on the way home. This time we parked across the road intending to walk to M&S for a coffee but plans changed. G got this shot as we explored the food court. The indoor lights in the sky give the picture a sense of speed, I think. I've also wanted to capture the interesting building on the left.
Back home for 7 pm for a Zoom chat with friend Hilde in Jordan. It should have happened yesterday but it turned out well for both of us that we rescheduled to today. I can't believe how much we had to say. Two and a half hours later, we finally said "goodbye" and had dinner.
Thanks to SweetArt, we have access to content on Netflix again. We watched the animated movie "The Star" last night and within no time at all, G found Doc Martin - so we had two episodes of that. Tonight, we watched another three from Series 8!
It's nearly 1 am so I'd better finish this quick and get to bed.
