Breaking the law

If you are travel south on the M9 this view of Stirling castle will be a familiar scene.
 
Every time I see it I am reminded of the story some years ago of a German tourist who stopped on the hard shoulder to take a photo.
 
He was apprehended by a passing police patrol car.
 
On seeing the police the German opened up his camera (this was pre digital) and threw away the roll of film.
                                                                                               
He thought he was breaking the law when in fact the policeman just wanted to tick him off for stopping on the hard shoulder of the motorway
