I'm sorry you are having a heatwave.

Our heat has been extremely easy for me to deal with this year. Not going into the city, with the urban heat island effect has helped a lot. Not having to walk from the car to the metro and from the metro to the office has been great. Finally, it hasn't broken 38 degrees C and we haven't lost power. All I have to do is get up way too early to walk Samuel and I have a woodpecker to help ensure I do that. Then my nice xylitol shirts help in the evening, just as I think his magic wet xylitol cape helps him.

You will get used to temperatures 30-35 degrees C and you'll buy air conditioning and it won't be so horrible because you'll just be glad it isn't 40.

And dry heat! Dry heat won't bother you at all.

I got to go to Pakistan when it was 115 degrees F/46 degrees C, but it was dry and that really is better, even if you have to cover your arms and head to be culturally appropriate AND wear an orange safety vest because you are at a cement plant and as a very honored guest it is imperative you stay safe.

There is an ancient fort in Lahore that is incredible. It is a UN World Heritage Site and was being restored while I was there. There were little rooms carefully designed to let the air flow through arches and keep the heat out with thick walls and ceilings. There was also this neat central area for the rulers to sit in front of their subjects that had water flowing underneath them and arcing in fountains over them. The architectural and engineering brilliance!!! It even had a wide sloping path so the elephant could come in!
