Luca at 11.5 months
My youngest grandchild, Luca. It's around 30 degrees outside today and we've been taking it easy.
Luca has just learned to walk - the culmination of much intense effort on his part. He is so excited that he just wants to rush around most of the time. This was a rare pause on the big trampoline outside.
Every new development with Luca is an extra pleasure because he had a very difficult start in life. He was born with galactosaemia, a very rare metabolic disorder. He lacks the enzyme needed to digest milk (animal/human), and so breastfeeding gave him liver failure. Fortunately the intensive care unit at Birmingham Children's Hospital saved his life. Thank you NHS!
