A lot done in an afternoon
Today turned out to be warm, humid and muggy after the heavy rain of the morning. Did not think we’d get much done in the allotments but was able to harvest the last of the peas, cultivated the area where they were planted, harvest onions and shallots and tie them up to dry on the pea fencing. Even had time to admire the mini sunflowers and “Davies’’ flower and be amazed at the size of the sweet corn plants, which are now about 9 ft tall. It was sweaty work and a coffee and treat was called for. Somewhere different today: we went to Morrisons’ cafe where we enjoyed a large Cappuccino and cake for only £1:12 per person under the “Eat our to help out” scheme.
Felt completely safe with numbers limited, Perspex screens round every table, member of staff taking you to your table and explaining safety and hygiene procedures and only one person at a time allowed up at the serving gantry and till.
