Ambling Along

The first climb up onto Winter Hill on the Anglezarke Amble and there was more snow than anticipated, unfortunately it was of the slushy variety. Still a good outing, the runners route is 24 miles and goes over the three main summits of the West Pennine Moors Winter Hill, Darwen Moor's summit with it's tower and Great Hill - no pics of the last two as the camera was put away after this and didn't come out again. I was happy to get round in under six hours in these conditions and with a very tight back and hamstring.

The walker's route misses out Darwen Tower to give a 16 mile route. Great to catch up with friends at the end over a hot meal and a nice cup o'tea. No blippers amongst this lot but in the hall at the end there were eight blippers that we knew of - seven completed one of the routes and one came along to the end to say hello. Ian has blipped two of the eight and namechecked everyone and I've a horrible feeling that Juleshki may blip me later - hopefully I'm wrong on that one : )
