A view from Jeanneb

Ardvreck

No rain this morning as we headed north into Assynt. The reflections on Loch Assynt were lovely as the water was so calm. Here you can see the reflected ruin of Ardvreck Castle but I also liked the reflection of the sky and the wisps of cloud on the mountains.

We didn’t hang about as the stillness brought out the midges so we carried on to Lochinver for a coffee by the sea. (No midges near the sea)

Two obligatory visits - the pie shop which is temporarily in a large truck and is undergoing major changes as they have taken over the pub (Caberfeidh), must return next year to see what has happened, and Highland Stoneware. No such changes here apart from queuing to get in. Tricky in a shop where people want to browse.

Headed over the ‘wee mad road’, very busy with cyclists, to Coigach to meet up with Eda and co. We had some lunch with them and shared a Rhubarb and Strawberry pie - yum!

Then down to the beach. Eda again went with daddy on the paddle board from the rocky point at the bottom of the road  to the beach and we walked. (They got there before us)
Once there some sand castle building went on. She was thrilled when we put her windmill on top and it spun round.

We left then to check in to our accommodation, about four miles away in Polbain, with views across to the Summer Isles.

Returned for tea and bedtime stories with Eda. So lovely being here. Bedtime for me now too!
