Back to Calke Abbey
We had an amazing storm and downpour yesterday evening. I had booked to go to Calke Abbey for this morning and had my fingers firmly crossed that I could get there and back before another deluge. (The A38 is notorious).
It was hot and humid and threatening but I was lucky.
The gardens are slightly scruffy, overblown and past their best but still magical. The deer were seen best from the car park today. It was busier but the grounds are so big they can cope.
A lovely morning.
Thank you National Trust.
