Under the Spire

If you look in the distance you will see the spire of Salisbury cathedral. We were in the grounds of Old Sarum, pleased not to be too hot - the view was, though, not clear. It is fascinating walking through the remnants of what was once a spectacular and enormous cathedral, imagining the splendour and busyness of the place in its heyday.

We had earlier visited an air museum (my concentration wavered quite quickly) and were then on to the White Horse at Uffington - difficult to see. Now on a very quiet site and due to meet up with daughters and grandchildren tomorrow.
