Patience
Gary the decorator was bang on time this morning meaning I wasn't quite ready. I didn't keep him waiting long. Straight down to the jobs in hand: mainly painting doors, skirting, doorframe and a few odds N ends. When I left at 12 he was doing really well. The weather was horrible all the way to Wycombe. I got there couple of minutes early and ate a bag of crisps before going in.
When I got there C was waiting at reception all ready to leave.. She was remonstrating with one of the nurses who spotted me waved, and then C turned around and gave my mask a big kiss. After a while I managed to persuade her to go back to her room where we talked it all thru as to why she couldnt leave yet. We talked about her going to Oxford and that was when I spotted Helen one of the nurses. She explained that it was not a foregone conclusion that she would go to the unit in Oxford?!?! /!? Pardon? I said. She said that her colleagues had had to write a report about C and then submit it to the unit in Oxford who would then decide whether they could take her or not...
So I said and what is Plan B. If they say no what will happen. She said there was no plan B. I was flabbergasted. I said so what is the hold up on the decision.. She's been waiting 2 weeks now? There was apparently an error in the report which had since been corrected. So They have the report now - when do we get a decision I said... Well we hoped it would be today but the lady that deals with it was on holiday today so the decision would come thru on Monday... Fingers crossed is all I can say.
C has been ready for the next stage for more than 2 weeks and is in effect bed blocking because there is nothing more they can do for her there...she is now starting go downhill with depression and is basically bored to tears....
I stayed 2 hours convincing her that she had to stay and she finally calmed and agreed...
Home by 4 emotionally wiped out...
Gary had gone leaving all the doors wet.
I walked straight thru and sat in the garden and said a little prayer, within 5 minutes Merlot had appeared and was sat on my lap obviously very hungry. He ate, then got back on my lap which was amazing as he won't sit there unless he gets a treat...he seemed to know I was worried and nuzzled around me and then slept for 20 minutes which meant I couldn't do anything which did me good. After a while he got up stretched, yawned then bunted me in the head and Wandered off..
Animals huh... They know!
After a cup of tea I felt much better, and decided the jobs could wait til tomorrow.
Thanks for calling.
