Diary of an Edinburgher

Steps, steps and more steps...

I have realised that my new shorter pedals won’t be coming till next week, so I popped along to the bike shop to change my appointment - so I’m not going out on my bike till I get them attached. Safer that way.

JR went out for a run this morning - she hasn’t been for a wee while. I haven’t been doing my exercise bike or my exercise videos. Slack!

But we did go for a big walk (10,844 steps) into town for a coffee at our favourite cafe. This involves lots of steep steps, up and down. The Royal Mile was busy, and there were even some street performers with small crowds around them. And the ‘world’s most pierced woman’, according to the Guinness Book Of Records - don’t check out the link of you're squeamish...

After our coffee and chocolate brownie, and chat with a visitor from Huddersfield (here on business) I was lured round to the Grassmarket (more steep steps) for an ice cream (single). The Grassmarket was quite busy - lots of people sitting out enjoying the sunny afternoon. Again, the day got better as it went on. Up the Vennel (more steps) and across the Meadows.

By the time we got home, it was even sunnier, so we sat out in the back garden. I had to move to the shade, but it was a lovely temperature - never too hot here.

Poor holidaymakers, having to rush home from France (and The Netherlands) to meet the 4am deadline to avoid 14 days quarantine.
