A view from Jeanneb

Coigach mountains.

A sunny start today and apart from a band of cloud across central Scotland it was glorious all the way.

Here you can see Ben Mor Coigach and Ben an Eons with wisps of cloud beautifully reflected in Loch Osgaig as we headed along the single track road that leaves the peninsula. We know what that stillness means in August - midges!
They hit us when we left our Bothan to go into the house for breakfast. Not very far thank fully.

When we came out a gentleman had arrived to cut back the bushes in the garden. He had his way of dealing with them - extra. He asked me something but I was totally unable to interpret what he was saying and pointing at! I had my mask on too which probably didn’t help. We really do need to be able to see someone’s face to tell what that way are saying, especially in a different accent.

The bottom picture was taken maybe only 10 minutes further along the same single track road as the first. It’s a side view of the iconic Stac Pollaidh with totally blue skies behind. What a day to be up there, needless to say the car park and beyond was full.

When we got to Ullapool the blue sky was still with us and no midges! Unfortunately the Saturday morning market was not there, we even went around to the smokehouse but that was closed. We did see a little of the ceremony for the 2 minutes silence at 11.00am to commemorate 75 years since VJ Day.

Things have inevitably been different but we’ve still had a wonderful time, especially sharing it with the family and seeing Eda’s delight of everywhere.
We had a super meal last night at the Am Fuaran to round off our holiday. Fully booked, people were asking if they had a table,  but very spaced out. We were on a table that would probably have normally held 6 - 8 and across the room from the next nearest.
I hope they do well for the rest of the season, their campsite was certainly looking full.

Can’t wait till next year!
