The other Bradford
We should have been home by now but we’re staying an extra day as Granny Sue, who was babysitting tomorrow, came over a bit dizzy when she called in yesterday.
As they were having friends over for a we decided to head out for the day.
We didn’t go very far, just a few miles to Bradford on Avon. We have visited just once before quite along time ago as we know that Chris’s Great grandfather originated there before moving north to the Yorkshire Bradford.
We had a wander around the town and then headed to the Kennet and Avon canal for a walk. We walked on to Avoncliff where there is an aqueduct over the Avon. I’ve never seen one before, quite extraordinary as it takes the canal at right angles across the river. We did see one barge having a bit of difficulty negotiations it.
Had a drink there by the river at the Cross Guns. I had a Thatchers Haze, a cloudy cider. I only ever drink it down here in the South West.
We walked back by the river through the Barton Farm Country Park. There is an English Heritage Tythe barn where we had tea and cake before returning to Bath.
Though a cloudy day it was really warm on our walk but there was rain in the offing when we got back to Bath. Fortunately the BBQ was finished so everyone could retire in side.
I took the shot of the dads, I on the left was John’s best man and vice versa. Baby P is about 6 weeks younger than Jude but looks a lot younger, this was the first time they had seen each other since the babies were born last autumn.
The extra is a compilation of our most enjoyable afternoon out.
Swapped them back again!
