Purple paradise.....

Another amazing day in deep heather and hot sun, encountering  Stonechats, Pipits, Buzzards and Grey Partridge, although the latter were in a cage and part of a regeneration programme. Good to see and to know it is happening. Met the farmer who was feeding them too and later three other farmers gathering sheep. I was in such a remote area they were surprised to see me and I to see them. Was originally just going up to the cairn visible here, Sgurr Gaoithe, but it was one of those days when you feel you can walk forever, so went up onto the ridge. Had a good view of the Moray Firth from up there, twenty five miles away.
Later, found the first Black Darter of the year and a Common Hawker, although had seen plenty on the wing earlier, hoovering up all the midgies that were around first thing!
A very hot , sunny day.
Lovely!
