Key workers

Monomonday challenge ‘Key or Quay’ made me think about how our attitudes to key workers has changed in recent months...with those delivering health, food, transport and infrastructure services getting deserved recognition.

It occurred to me that only 10 years ago mineworkers would  probably still have been crucial to our keeping the lights on and one of the most key of key workers. But since 2016 Scotland has no coal-fired power stations at all, which is a triumph for cleaner air and renewable energy but we still have a legion of folk whose incredibly hard life underground  was chucked so harshly on the scrap heap.
