Oyster Channel sunset
I managed to capture a lovely sunset this evening over Oyster Channel - one of the many channels of the Clarence River which experienced major flooding the week before last.
I received a very interesting email from a friend on Friday last which gave some details of the flood - "During river gauging at Grafton on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, NSW hydrographers recorded the largest flow ever measured in New South Wales - some 1.45 million megalitres* per day flowing down the Clarence River" *"That's roughly 2.5 times the size of Sydney harbour", NSW Water Commissioner David Harris said. The catchment area is approximately 23,000 square kilometres.
That's a lot of water!!!
Quite a few young teenage boys fishing off the jetty again- I'm always suprised how polite they are to me when I wander amongst their gear while I'm trying to get my photos. They usually comment on the sunset as well - nice to know the future generations are in good hands.
