Where's the snow?

The weather forecast yesterday promised a big fall of snow today, but it actually started yesterday evening and by this morning it was a bright clear day, with the sunshine quickly melting the light covering of snow.

This is a traditional Dutch scene, the old painted farmhouse, often with the main barn of the farm attached behind, the water and canals used for draining the land, and the copisced willow on the left.

Willow is a very common tree here, often very old, used to stabilise and dry the land, with its extensive root network. The continual cutting and trimming sometimes brings a quite bizarre and surreal look to the landscape.
