Worth A Wet Walk Around
Woke up to pouring rain that according to the forecast was set in for the day. One of the things I have noticed since lockdown is that we can no longer be spontaneous.. everything has to be booked in advance. So we had no choice but to use our pre-bought tickets and visit Studeley Castle and gardens. We were joined by Eldest’s partner J who had driven up late last night.
We had a really lovely time, in spite of the rain. The castle was so interesting a regular haunt of Henry VIII and actually the burial place of his 6th wife Katherine Parr. The gardens were really worth a wet walk around and were representative of when the castle was refurbished in the 1840s.
Another evening walk into Cheltenham for dinner and a few drinks. We had booked a restaurant in the ‘Brewery Quarter’ which I had imagined to be a trendy area of small independent bars and restaurants...nothing like that at all but more of a modern cinema complex...more research beforehand needed I think...saying that the restaurant we were in was great and the meal was delicious so nothing to complain about really.
