Old horse shoe

When N was excavating the old croft house ruin, prior turning it into a fruit cage for me, he found a number of items which had been left behind by the last people who lived there. This horse shoe was one of the things he found and it must have been worn by a pretty big working horse. We reckon it must be about 150 years old, based on some of the other items we found e.g. an old gin bottle and a ceramic inkwell.

It's been a bit of a wild day today with strong winds accompanied by heavy showers in the afternoon. What a change from yesterday and I certainly wouldn't want to be out in the boat toaday!
