Yesterday I was held hostage by a female red finch. I was heading out the door to bring a bouquet of flowers to the post office for the service counter there and a red finch was eating apple slices I had put out. I didn't want to disturb her and time was ticking toward lunch break when post office closes for an hour. I had to wait it out but made it in the nick of time.
