The Royal Norfolk Regiment

A day of decisions.  We wanted to choose the kitchen unit styles, colours and worktops, tiles for the wall and floor, and tiling for the bathrooms and cloakrooms.  We had to go over to Hunstanton to see the full range available and after a couple of hours we had made all our choices.  We then drove back to the site office where our house is being built, and while we were there had a quick look in the show home.  We had chosen very light and bright tiles but when we saw some of the slightly darker ones used in the show home we started to wonder whether we had made the right choice.  So whilst it’s not fully back to the drawing board, we  have more thinking to do.  At least we have a few weeks before we have to commit.

As we were nearby we had a quick look in Holt Station on the North Norfolk Railway to see if there were any steam engines around.  I couldn’t get a great view but this is 90775 ‘The Royal Norfolk Regiment’, a WD ‘Austerity’ Class 2-10-0 locomotive.  Although built in the UK in 1943-45 many were sent abroad during the war to the Middle East.  Afterwards some worked in the UK but many more in The Netherlands, Greece and Syria.  This example operated in Greece and was brought over to the UK for preservation.
