Kingfisher!

Boy, these little guys are a real challenge to photograph!  Only the swallows seem to move faster.  I keep hoping I'll find one posing nicely on a branch.  I hear them coming before I can see them with their little "flying typewriter" call.  My bird book calls it "the sound of a ratchet toymaker".  The bird book also says the kingfisher will "return to its perch with a freshly caught fish in its bill, beat it senseless against the perch, then swallow it headfirst".  Maybe I don't want to find it posing on a branch after all.
