Supper?

You know how sometimes for supper you just eat a bowl of ice cream and strawberries? Yeah, we did that today. :)

It was another morning of outside church. It wasn’t as hot as last week and it wasn’t as windy as the week before that. So pretty near perfect. I had to go inside halfway through it, while they were singing, to get a cap. I was going to be preaching into the sun and couldn’t see my notes.

I’ve always wondered about those pastors who could memorize their notes for the morning talk, enough to not be publicly embarrassed. How do they do that? It seems impossible to consider. Yet there are those who are able to do that well. Not me I’m afraid.

I read a study released last week that said that one of the top reasons for pastoral stress right now is trying to keep their churches united.

One pastor says:
“I’m aware that people are growing weary of the entire pandemic. Some are scared to death, while others are convinced it’s a hoax. Trying to minister to both ends of the spectrum is exhausting.”

Amen. Both ends of the spectrum. That’s where so much of my tension is from these days. Trying to care for both ends, and managing the expectations of either side. It’s rather exhausting. But we’ll get up tomorrow and keep at it.

Maybe that’s why ice cream with strawberries was required for supper today.
