Down to The Needles

Apparently you can’t come to the Isle of Wight and not visit the famous Needles. We had hoped to be able to get the boat trip out to the chalk stacks and the lighthouse but it wasn’t running.
We decided to still queue for the chairlift though to take us down to Alum Bay and I’m so glad we did as it was well worth the wait. The kids (and I) loved the ride and the beach was beautiful, with multicoloured cliffs, pebbles washed up against sand and blue green water topped with rolling white waves. (Extra)
There were a lot of people but, in usual British style, the majority had planted themselves in the spot closest to the chair lift. We walked 5 minutes up the beach and found a much quieter spot. The kids entertained themselves as always on a beach whilst we took far too many photos and enjoyed the sun in a sheltered spot. Andrew helped Anya create some pebble art in between her creating her own telescope made from rolled up seaweed. Max then wanted his own too of course.
A morning well spent before heading to a more local beach to make the most of our penultimate day here.
