Treasure island

We hadn’t expected much in the way of beach time today. It started off drizzly and dull and we had decided it would be best to try and change the ferry crossing for tomorrow to this evening to get away before storm Francis hit. Didn’t fancy packing up a tent in the wind and rain nevermind a choppy crossing on the ferry.

With the ferry booked for 7pm we went to get a late breakfast and planned to eat it up at the viewpoint at Compton Bay. We then couldn’t resist a quick wander on the beach whilst the sun was out. Three hours later the kids had stripped down to their underwear and were paddling in the sea. They had found treasures to play with; pebbles, seaweed, sticks and bubbles (froth from the waves) They would have stayed all day! We were quite happy too on such a spectacular beach. Even andrew couldn’t resist playing with the kids, creating seaweed patterns in the sand.

What a wonderful week we have had. We had no idea what to expect having never been before. The weather has been good to us, we’ve found plenty to do and loved the variety the island had to offer. We’ll definitely be back at some point, there’s so much more to see...
