The Old and the New
Sharon and I travelled back from Birmingham via Chiltern Railways, because compared to Virgin, they are cheaper and have more comfortable trains. Chiltern trains run from Moor Street station, which was rebuilt a few years ago in the Bull Ring redevelopment.
Also at the station was a preserved Great Western steam locomotive; I don't know whether that's a permanent feature or there to haul a winter steam special, but it makes a striking contrast with the futuristic compound-eye-effect of new outer cover for Birmingham's Selfridges.
As you can see, it was also snowing heavily, both there and back in London.
