Spoon Shots

Losar!

Today is the first day of the the Tibetan year, so this morning we woke to find our taps daubed with butter and prayer flags! As you do. We had a lovely breakfast of chang (rice drink which tastes suspiciously alcoholic), sweet rice, khapsey (crunchy fried bread things), butter tea and tsampa.

The Mrs then got dressed up in her "chupa" (Tibetan dress with lovely stripy apron) and we went to Tsering's fathers house where we ate even more food, including some lovely Ox and chili sauce. Everyone was relaxed and enjoying the first of three days holiday.

We also visited the monastery school where we have been volunteering and saw the boys. They were all playing cards for money! I asked and they confirmed what I thought, the Buddha didn't gamble....

Then it was a chance to relax and try and recover for going back to work tomorrow.

This pic is the Mrs with a chap from the Himalayas (I cant remember where though). There were lots of people around all dressed up in their smartest clothes :-)
