So Chris arrived today, very early in the morning. Now for those who know me, well, I'm not good in mornings...so I can only apologise to him for my original grouchy mood!
So the tourist trail of Caen...I was pretty proud of myself to be honest! I think I showed Chris everything that there is to see, in the pouring rain as well. The awful thing is, is that is has been quite good weather for the past week and then as soon as there is a visitor, il pleut comme un vache qui pisse (if you'll excuse the expression!). So what did we see? Well, obviously the castle is a big one, so we did a walk along the walls (brave I know, and particularly bracing!), followed by a visit to the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Caen where we attempted to puzzle out the modern art, as well as admiring many a bejewelled woman. Very interesting actually! We then had a wander round the museum that describes how the castle has been built, restored and all that jazz. As most of the buildings of Caen, the war was not particularly kind to it...but it is great to see it being restored and having museums etc. put inside the grounds, it really makes it a part of the city!
We also saw the Mairie and the Abbaye aux Hommes...as well as a lovely lunch at the Greek restaurant. Love the 5 euros full meal...so worth it!
We then met up with Kendra for coffee, and revelations and a wonderful afternoon/evening before heading back to chez moi for a lazy evening in. Great day!
