Robbie Burns' Birthplace

A sunny morning, but mostly cloudy all day.  Warm when there was some sunny spells. 

Up early, and headed out after breakfast.  There's been a lot of driving today, and headed to Ayrshire, stopping at various villages along the way.  One stop was at Electric Brae, with the optical illusion.  In the late afternoon, we headed to Bellshill, to see uncle Michael, (mam's peerie brother) and his partner June.  Great to catchup with family, with more visits with family to come.  Mince and tatties for a late tea, followed by a lazy night by the telly. 

We had a great day learning a bit more about our famous Scot, Robert Burns.  I've always loved his poetry, as we studied it at high school.  My favourite poem has to be Tam o' Shanter.  We went to the birthplace museum, the monument, the Brig o' Doon, the Auld Kirk and then to his actual birthplace house, build in 1757 by his father, and this being the cottage.  I have my Burns supper every year, but this has inspired me to get reading his poetry again.  Taken at Alloway, Ayrshire.
