Carlisle Cathedral

A lovely sunny morning, and then clouded over with rain.  It was cold when it rained, warmer in the afternoon, and some sunny spells.

Up early, and headed out to start exploring.  There's been a few hiccups with a road closed, due to bridge works, and this played havoc with the Sat Nav.  We finally arrived at Kielder forest in England, but the Sat Nav sent us back to the same road again.  We changed plans due to this, and headed to Carlisle and Gretna Green.  Came back via Hawick, where I wanted to visit a friend, but passed through, due to a Covid-19 cluster case.  Back to the cottage and a quiet night.

Carlisle wasn't on the planned trips, but it was a lovely detour.  Been years since I was last here, and would have loved to explore more, but didn't want to spent too long in the town.  Parked at the castle, but entry only by pre booked tickets, so headed to the cathedral.  It was really quiet, so headed in for a look too.  A stunning building, and was well worth the trip.
