Small Tortoiseshell
(Aglais urticae)
... one of three that come each day to collect nectar from flowering pond plants. It's been glorious weather today - so warm that I sat and read in the garden this morning. Then hot enough for me to apply sun-screen cream before we went for a long walk this afternoon, a different route from yesterday's long walk, but near home so similar scenery of course. Really spoilt for choice as to what to blip, but have gone for the butterfly as it fits in the Tiny Tuesday challenge. Thanks to this month's host, MaryElizaR.
After picking our first blackberries of the season yesterday, couldn't resist a few more today. They're heading for a pear and blackberry crumble (with ice-cream if this heat continues).
