Seaside dreams and a paddle
We thought this week would be a good time to get ourselves and Merlin out and about a bit more - as like many people, since lock down, our trips out have been limited. We thought this particularly important for Merlin as he is still quite young and learning about the world.
So, today after the morning dog walk we went to Emsworth to walk along the quay and have a wander around the shops. Andy got a sausage roll from the bakery - as has become tradition when we visit Emsworth. Merlin hasn't been in the sea much before so we took him to the water's edge for a paddle and for his first real experience of waves (the tide was coming in so they were lapping up with plenty of energy). He was fascinated by them and even more so by the big balls (buoys) he found all along the water's edge!
Along the seafront there is a strip of houses with large gardens and views out to sea. They must be quite wonderful places to live. There is a wide range of properties in this strip, from large rather ostentatious modern houses made with lots of glass and timber, and other older smaller homes, some small bungalows with beautiful gardens and hedges to protect the plants from the salty wind. Most of these homes look like they were built in the 1950s and seem rather idyllic to me. As I pass I dream of sitting in the garden with my morning cup of tea, taking in the sea air and the ever changing view.
Hoping your day has given you some time to enjoy yourself. Take care and all the best.
