Leichard Lagoon

We’ve been off grid for a couple of days at Leichard Lagoon. It’s on a small cattle station with the homestead on one side of the lagoon and a small campsite on the other. Showers and toilets in corrugated iron sheds, $16 per night. The office is a table under a tree.

The lagoon is full of water lillies, many of which were in flower. There were lots of ducks and water birds; and the obligatory crocs and snakes, so dogs on lead advised.

The place really comes into it’s own when the sun sets over the lagoon. The sky glows orange and the birds have a last burst of activity before bedtime!

We saw a pair of Brolgas (largest flighted bird in Aus) but they took off before the Silverback had twiddled all the knobs on his camera. Stay tuned we’re in Brolga country, I’ll get you a pic soon!
