Becalmed
Much to my surprise, there was enough of a breeze to propel us all the way to Newhaven. But while attempting to make a circuit of it, the wind fell away, leaving us bobbling in glorious warm sunshine.
Eventually, after much enjoyable blethering, quaffing and scoffing, it was time to put the engine on - only to be immediately hailed by a becalmed chancer from the other crowd, with his kevlar sails and everything. Still, that was quite exciting. A proper rescue!
And motoring back over to the mooring later, I switched on the windspeed indicator. It worked! That made me ridiculously happy and content.
