Great Spotted Woodpecker
I went for a walk on the Canal du Midi again today and managed to get in just over 10km without getting wet - brilliant!
Once again there was a scarcity, a strange lack, unknown in fact in living memory, of wildlife.
Of course Colin was there in a tree again - a different tree, and as much as I tried, I couldn't resist taking a photo of him - although I daren't blip 3 cormorants in a row...
I heard lots of buzzards as they passed high overhead and then I spotted this little chap, tapping away and scuttling up trees.
On the return journey, I noticed that there were tow of them, tapping at tree trunks, which may mean it is a breeding pair, so I'll be back ... yeah, I know I say that every day...
