Sandhill Cranes in the Grass

We drove through miles and miles of wheat and cattle ranches today with miles and miles of nothing in between. We are staying in a little hotel in a town called Diamond, with a population of 4. Needless to say, it is an experience we will not soon forget. The fires are out of control near home and we have no tv to see the coverage. I am getting what information I can from a friend and the internet when I can get it. 
Grateful for...clear skies here. All my friends and family at home can’t even go outside the smoke is so bad. It’s terrifying and devastating.
