Sally Mair - Loving life

Blueberries

These are ready just in time for Isobel to come and pick them this weekend. As she keeps telling me, they are her favourite. Hopefully they've sweetened up since she last tried one. We've a second crop of raspberries started too, that will please Eilidh.
Today I went to Lakeland at Dalkeith to pick up a couple of containers. I went quite early and it was fairly quiet, except for the cafe in Dobbies which had a long, not physically distanced queue. The person taking names at the entrance to the cafe was making a meal of it. I'm sure it's much more efficient and safer to get people to fill in a slip themselves which is what many places are doing. There was no need for there to be a queue (of about 30 people) as the cafe was actually pretty empty. I didn't join the queue I hasten to add.
I went right across town to Ocean Terminal next to get my glasses fixed. The nose piece has dropped off again and they were digging into my nose quite hard. I don't go to Ocean Terminal very often and it's been transformed since BHS closed. That area of the centre is now a skateboard and scooter park and a roller skating rink with a cafe area too. Very different. I don't imagine many people can get to Leith at the moment with Leith Walk being closed, Constitution Street closed and Lindsay Road one way. Whichever way I went I seemed to his tailbacks and road closed signs.
The outing finished when I went to pick up Eilidh from after school club and then Isobel from preschool - she insists it's not nursery school and I guess she knows best. I got a lovely warm welcome from both. Isobel's teacher told me she'd been playing at hairdressers - including going around with an empty spray bottle saying that all staff and customers had to use hand sanitiser!
We had a lazy dinner tonight and settled down to watch the penultimate episode of Killing Eve. The humour has definitely been racked up this series. Black though that humour can be at times.

My sister arrives tomorrow, I haven't seen her this year and it's now September!!

New rules start on Monday, keep safe everybody, we don't want to go back to where we were 5 months ago.
