Sally Mair - Loving life

Wicker woman

Another bad night, nytol tonight and lavender oil in my bath I think!
We headed across the bridge to Fife again today. Following my nose to see where we ended up. First stop was Falkland and we made use of our National Trust membership to visit the Palace which is one of my favourite places.
There were some very loud and dominant visitors talking at full volume and reading notices so loudly that I couldn't concentrate, so we didn't spend as much time indoors as usual. One of the guides too was a bit too pushy, or maybe I was just feeling grumpy. This is a view from one of the state rooms, of a willow figure of Mary Queen of Scots with a falcon. It's taken through very old glass so not as sharp as it could be. Made by Trevor Leat, it's worth a visit in itself.
We spent a good while in the Palace and grounds and then went for a wander through the village. Lots of interesting shops, it would be very easy to spent lots of money. I didn't do too badly!
From Falkland we headed further west to Loch Leven's Larder where we had a late lunch.
On our way back down the M90 we passed a huge fleet - there must have been over 50 - of police motorbikes heading North along with several police cars. I think the royals may have been travelling. The northbound motorway was filled with them, both carriageways, very eye catching with the fluorescent yellow and white and the blue of their flashing lights.
Eilidh had her first violin lesson today. Suzuki method so no actual playing yet, learning how to stand properly, to pick up the instrument and to hold it correctly. Apparently she was very good and focused. Not surprisingly she is very keen to learn how to put the bow to the strings though!
I've been thinking of those involved in our Cursillo weekend throughout the day today. I'll be dropping in tomorrow for the final service and hearing how things have gone. We've been planning this for so long, it's hard to believe it's finally happened after being postponed from Spring 2020.
The Edinburgh numbers are dropping thank goodness and hopefully the rest of Scotland is going to do likewise.
Stay safe.
