Newlands Corner

Last night we had a delicious meal to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant is housed in a 16th century Tudor style house and serves contemporary European food, so I was surprised to learn that the chef is Anglo-Mexican and specialises in fine Mexican food so we had the Mexican tasting menu which was delicious.

Yesterday we also took delivery of a new car to replace our big family car which was 8 years old. We felt it was time to retire the 8 year old car! So this morning we spent some time trying to learn the new multi media system of the car, which is rather complicated and if it were not for Coronavirus times we would have had this all explained to us by the garage but it is not possible to sit in the car with a staff member from the garage in these times. The technology on new cars these days is quite mind boggling, and this car has a 'Hey Siri' type of function so I can talk to it and get it to do certain commands when I don't know which button to press.

We had a walk with Xena in our local woods this morning, and then this afternoon we went to Newlands Corner is in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Newlands Corner lies on the chalk ridge of the North Downs at a height of over 170m, which gives glorious views across the Weald to the ridge of the South Downs. Did you know that the South Downs is England's newest national park and is it's busiest park, even busier than the Lake District. This is an image of one of the walking paths at Newlands Corner.

A quiet evening at home tonight, quieter than usual as Tommy has gone to Inca's home for the weekend.
