In the beginning
A year ago today we were in Chester. It was the beginning of a two month stay in England and Scotland, and we had that wonderful feeling you have at the beginning of a trip, when the whole long-planned adventure stretches out before you.
Our dear friend Richard came up by train from London to spend the day with us. We first met Richard in 1984, when we were all very much younger (extra).
We walked along the walls and then had lunch in the café in what was formerly the refectory at Chester Cathedral. This stained glass window in the refectory was made in 2000 by Ros Grimshaw and depicts the Creation. The inscription along the bottom reads "and God saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good".
