Gamblesmire Lane
I thought this was going to be called a walk in the rain. The weather forecast had promised us sun from 2, but at 2 we still had rain. By 4 I decided to go out anyway, for a walk in the rain. Then the promised sun arrived and definitely brightened up the photos.
I took the picture waliking along Gamblesmire Lane, one of those very old public byways. It's described by South Lakeland as an unclassified road. I've blipped it before .The Lake District Park Authority describe it as a "Green Road" and "Trail Route" and allow its use by "recreational" motor vehicles. This is good. It means it can't be used by 4x4s . Recreational motor vehicles are for use only off public roads and not need a motor vehicle registration. There are tracks in the Lakes used by 4x4s and subject to a lot of controversy. Luckily Gamblesmire Lane is not one of them. We just have to jump out of the way of the trail bikes.
