Spotlight on the celery

Meant to blip a photo of today's hike back at Sky Meadows, but that's not uploading. So chopped celery takes the stage!

W. and I bought an annual pass to the Virginia State Parks and set off to hike the North Ridge Trail. Once up on the ridge in the woods, we decided to go an extra mile to the intersection with the Appalachian Trail...what's one mile, after all?  Well...the whole shebang roundtrip from the parking lot was a little less than 4 miles, but with an 800+ foot rise in elevation by the time we reached the AT and lots of rocky, roller coastery trail in between. And muggy! Bit more than I'd bargained for, especially as I don't have the lungs and heart of a runner, as W. does. Overall we're feeling quite pleased with ourselves, and my knees are on ibuprofen so they don't mind either. Beautiful views coming back down, once out of the trees.
