My name is Jack
Daughter One, who is staying for a few days, called out this morning to say that there was a jackdaw trying to hang on to the fat ball feeder. I rushed for the camera, but he was already back to sitting on the pole - the feeder is just out of sight bottom right - where I managed to catch him through the window. This is a first!
After lunch we went for walk in Glencruitten Woods. A lot of this is cut forestry, but there are some good views over Oban and the surrounding area. There are also many interesting shrubs and trees in one area, obviously part of what was the old Woodland Garden. I must investigate further some day!
On the way back we popped into the Walled Garden where we picked another 7lbs of runner beans and some peas! Definitely have to take some down to Hope Kitchen tomorrow!
Quote of the day:
W.S.Merwin, ‘What is a Garden?’ - “A visitor to a garden sees the successes, usually. The gardener remembers mistakes and losses, some for a long time, and imagines the garden in a year, and in an unimaginable future.”
