If you go down to the woods today . . . . .

. . . . you won't see any teddies at all!

Today was promising, end to end sunshine. The forecast was a little over-enthusiastic - we set off before lunch with a picnic to visit the oakwoods at Dalavich, and took the long single track road over from Kilmelford and picnicked overlooking Loch an Losgainn Mor. The sky was covered in strange very closely scattered clouds, but as we drove on to Dalavich and walked into the woods the sky cleared and eventually became cloudless. The oakwoods are wonderful, full of moss and ferns and seedling trees, tho' not a great deal of wildlife was in evidence today, a few birds, and a very young slow worm, as thin as a bracken stem. When we reached the bridge over the burn we couldn't resist playing Poohsticks - see extra! A lovely place anyway and somewhere we will return to.

Limerick of the Day:

A zoologist from Tuscaloosa,
Crossed a grizzly bear with a fuchsia.
The developing fruit
Was a whiskery brute,
Like a red and white pumpkin, but juicier!
