The art of chutney making

Emsworth quay, on a mild and breezy September day.  The sun struggling to break through the clouds.  The image is obviously under exposed but I thought the patterns of different light in the sky worth keeping as they really were very soothing to look at as we walked along.

A gentle day involving a morning dog walk by the sea and wander in Emsworth to pop to the shops.  This was followed by chutney making.  I used a new (to me) recipe  and it involved larger quantities of ingredients than I am used to coping with.  I think it has turned out okay but it took a long time (three hours) to thicken up.  I've not made chutney for a few years and I think it is the kind of thing it is best to make regularly as you get to feel what is right in terms of quantities of ingredients, how much heat to apply and for how long.  Well there is plenty of opportunity to have another go - given the quantities of courgette and tomatoes the allotment is supplying!

I hope your day has been kind to you.  Very best wishes.
