Rotting art

After breakfast I logged onto my work computer and caught up with a few things I'd not completed during the week. People who've not worked from home think it's so easy, but in fact you often push yourself further and you don't have the benefit of normal human interactions. I'm a programmer so I mostly want to be left alone, but even I like a chat over a brew now and then...

After lunch we took the beast for a walk on a nearby "beach". It's actually a small bay where boats go to die. The wooden and metal ones disintegrate in a very similar manner, as though made from different materials their construction is similar and both wood and steel succumb to the sea eventually. There are a few polymer boats which show no visible signs of decay, but must be flaking plastic particles constantly into the environment.

Dead boats sort of resemble a dead whale in many respects, they look odd beached on the land, leaning on one side, and with their flanks exposed you can see their ribs and spine until the water takes them away for ever...

So while the dog scampered about looking and sniffing for things I took a few boat pictures. Not all but quite a few have been painted, as this blip has, some have been painted long enough for the decay to break the image apart or for another artist to paint over the top...

After the visit to the boat cemetery we walked back to the road and then along to the point where there is a small beach. Swimming isn't allowed because of the strong currents from the barrage, and it was a bit overcast so not many people there. The view over the river would probably be okay on a day with better visibility. We headed back to the car and home, where I was instructed to make dinner - which is just about ready!
