Day 4
Escaped!
No new restrictions were announced today - so much for my finely tuned political instincts - but they are promised for later this week. I avoided checking the news until I got here, just in case.
I took a scenic route using the Fettercairn to Banchory and Rhynie to Dufftown roads. They are two of the three which close first whenever we get snow. I was curious. Certainly they are spectacular. No snow today.
Aberlour is what I expected in a sense, having driven through it countless times. It is on the Perth to Elgin road, so it was a trip we made every winter when Junior was playing junior ice hockey. We never stopped. It is too near Elgin to stop. Either you have just left or you are almost there.
The Spey runs through town so fishing is a big thing. Shortbread too - Walkers’ headquarters is here.
The Blip is the view from the top of the Fettercairn/Banchory road. 1,400 ft. Extras are the closest distillery to my hotel (200m away), and the river (250m away).
OK. Time to plan for tomorrow. No whisky and no fishing, but apart from that, anything is possible.
