A day of two halves

A restless night, woke loads of times.....sis & BiL had prewarned us that their glass crate collection was due this morning.

Thank, goodness they did, I have never been woken up by such a racket in all my life lol! At 7.30 we could hear them coming up the hill, every crate chucked into a bigger bin, then emptied into the dustcart......it went on for what seemed ages....!! Needless to say we were all up and ready quite early ;-)

Much more overcast today and cooler. We took a drive out to Calshot Spit & Castle first.
By the time we got there a seamist had descended and the wind had picked up, but we had a wander for a while, poppped into the Activity Centre for a coffee, then walked back to the car along the waters edge, where all the beachuts were lined up.

Afterwards we drove into Hythe for lunch and a mooch. We opted for Seashells Restaurant, it just had to be fish & chips for lunch.....it was lovely, cant remember the last time I had proper fish & chips :-) Hythe is a lovely little seaside town, with a ferry that runs between it and Southampton.

The second image to the bottom is the Ferry terminal, at the end of Hythe Pier. It is pretty long to take into account the tide. You can either walk up the pier from the ferry or take the little train.

We left around 3.30 drove across the city, it seems really odd to see the dock gates with no cruiseliners in them :-(

We are just chilling with a brew now.....maybe we will be opening a bottle of red in a little while, when we have our cheese & biscuits, whilst listening to what Boris has to say!

Can't believe our visit is coming to an end already, be driving home tomorrow :-/

Hope eberyone is safe & well.
