WOOD CARVING

While bicycling I came across this interesting tree along the back roads near Elkhart Lake. Clearly, someone chose to carve this dead tree instead of cutting it down. I do not know for sure, but it looks to have been roughed out with a chainsaw and maybe finished with finer tools. On the other hand, perhaps the whole thing was done with a chainsaw....I have seen some remarkable chainsaw artifacts.

EXTRAS: Close ups of the Musky (Esox masquinongy), Elk, a.k.a. Wapiti (Cervus canadensis) and Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)....the muskies live in the lake, the heron hunts along the shoreline but the elk is no longer here. It was once native to the area but has been hunted out. In other parts of the state, elk have been re-introduced. Hopefully, that will happen here as well. After all....the lake got its name from its shape. It is shaped like the heart of an elk.
